February Pets of the Month
This is Chiflada. She was adopted off the streets of Puerto Natales in Patagonia, Chile. She is a border collie mix and very active so our rivet-on tag is the perfect solution. Thanks to Pavel R. for the fantastic picture and the great story behind it.
And this striking fellow is Simon. "He is 7 and is a super sweet cuddle bug." Thanks to Sarah J. for this pic.
Thank you to everyone who has submitted pictures of their pets! If you have a great picture of your pet (showing off our tag would be nice!), you can submit it here.

Cat Brothers Reunited By Tinder
Brian Herrera and Cathleen Cavin of Petaluma, California met on Tinder (the online dating app) last summer. They talked for months before Cavin finally agreed to meet.
“I didn't even want to go on a date,” Cavin admitted. “I was trying to get out of it.”
But they did meet and it went better than either could have guessed. They discovered that they’d been living nearly parallel lives, born two months apart and living in the same Bay Area cities, Fairfax, San Rafael and now Petaluma. They enjoyed the same music and found that they attended many of the same concerts over the years. They talked for hours until they had to leave the restaurant. They went to Herrera’s house to continue talking. Eventually, Butter, Herrera’s cat walked by. Cavin was stunned.
“I start looking at the cat, and I'm like, ‘That’s my cat. You have my cat,’” she said. “And he’s like, ‘No, that’s my cat.’ So he thought I was some crazy cat lady, and I said, ‘No, I promise you. Come over to my house.’”
So he did, the very next day. The similarities between their cats was unmistakable. Cavin went to find Ozzie’s adoption paperwork and sure enough, Ozzie and Butter were brothers.
Cavin recalls that when she and her daughter Cali, went to adopt Ozzie, they wanted to adopt both cats but knew that their landlord wouldn't allow it. They were sad to leave with just one of the brothers.
“Every time Cali would see the kitten upset, she would tell me it was because he was missing his brother,” she said. “I made a really stupid promise. I told my daughter I would look for the cat and try to find his brother. I kept saying, ‘I'm going to find him.’”
Cavin and Herrera plan to move in together on March 1, hopefully fulfilling destiny, not just for them but the cat brothers too! It seems as if the stars have been trying to align this way for a while.

Dog Saves Sick Neighbor
Last month, Marcia Allen was out in her back yard in Bettendorf, Iowa. It was a quiet morning as the neighborhood woke up, getting ready for school and work. Suddenly, Marcia collapsed and found herself laying on the ground in the mud, unable to get up or speak; she was having a stroke.
In the house next door, Dave Scott was in the middle of his routine, getting ready to take his kids to school and then head off to work. Part of that routine is letting Mack, their 7 year old black lab out into the yard to take care of some dog business. It didn't take Mack long to notice Marcia and know that something was wrong. She was rolling in the mud, trying to move, trying to help herself since she couldn't call for help. Mack, who is normally a very calm, quiet dog began barking at the fence that separated the back yards. He continued barking getting louder and more frantic as minutes passed.
Scott heard Mack barking and at first, just thought it odd. Normally, Mack would come back and tap the back door glass when he was ready to come back in. The barking continued and became more intense. That was just not like Mack; Scott knew something wasn't right. He hurried to go out and take a look.
At first, when he saw Marcia on the ground, he thought she’d slipped and fallen. Then he noticed her rocking back and forth and realized she was in bad shape. He called for help immediately.
Allen spent the next two days in the hospital and is now recovering. She is certain that Mack saved her life. Scott agrees; had Mack not been so relentless in his barking, there’s no way he would have gone out there and found her before leaving for the day. Mack certainly knew that she needed help and he did what he had to do. Good boy!
